Construction Causes Holland Tunnel Delays

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP/ 1010 WINS)  -- Holland Tunnel delays out of NYC have cleared-up after emergency construction repairs snarled tunnel traffic Wednesday evening.

New Jersey Turnpike Authority spokesman Joseph Orlando says emergency construction was needed to repair a hole on the Newark Bay Extension bridge deck just east of Interchange 14A.

The westbound lane was closed for several hours Wednesday afternoon, causing backed-ups all the way to the Holland Tunnel during the evening commute.
