Born in Manhattan and raised in Brooklyn, editor Ronnie Stern made WINS history by becoming the station's first and only female sportswriter. After attending the University of Southern California and getting a Masters at N.Y.U., Ronnie was working as a production assistant at WINS when News Director Adam Clayton Powell III heard that she really wanted to write sports. He gave Ronnie a shot and she spent the next 14 years on the sports desk. As a life-long Yankees fan, she especially enjoyed covering the 1978 season when the Bombers staged the greatest comeback in baseball history.
Ronnie eventually moved on to the editor's desk, where she handles incoming stories like so many curveballs. "I'm proud of the work I do, the talent that I help develop. It's a challenge, which is why I've stayed."
Ronnie lives in Riverdale with her darling daughter Alex, whom she says is, "more work than WINS will ever be."
