BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) -- A New Jersey man and an upstate New York woman face up to life in federal prison for selling a 12-year-old girl for sex as payment for back rent.
Dean Sacco of Jersey City, N.J., and 47-year-old Linda O'Connor of Norwich were convicted in August by a federal court jury of sex trafficking and producing child pornography. Sacco also was convicted of transporting a minor over state lines to engage in sexual conduct.
The girl testified that O'Connor arranged for her to have sex with the 50-year-old Sacco as payment for O'Connor's back rent.
Sacco and O'Connor both say they are appealing. They contend that the girl was a manipulator who lied to police and caseworkers.
The sentencings have been delayed several times previously but a court clerk says they are scheduled for Wednesday.
