NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A Greyhound bus' roof peeled off as it plowed into a highway overpass Friday, dropping debris onto terrified passengers and injuring six people, authorities said.
"All that we heard was a big rip coming from the front to the back," passenger William Tedeschi said. "I thanked God I was alive — I was so scared."
The bus got wedged in an overpass on the Henry Hudson Parkway in the Bronx around 7:30 p.m., the Fire Department said. It was carrying 37 passengers from Springfield, Mass., to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan, Greyhound spokesman Dustin Clark said.
