NEW YORK (AP) -- More than 100 residents are returning to a Brooklyn building closed after authorities discovered a clandestine matzo bakery with silos of potentially dangerous grain in the basement.
The residents of the building on Kent Avenue in the Williamsburg section include many renowned working artists and musicians. About 100 residents began returning home this week.
The Fire Department lifted the order to vacate on Thursday after inspectors determined that sufficient fixes had been made.
The building was declared a fire hazard in January after the bakery was found. The landlord was cited with various code violations.
About 200 people lived in the building when it was evacuated. It is unclear how many will return.
