Dr. Brian McDonough on Stressful Jobs

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- Do you have a stressful job? I’m not talking about a job where there are the usual pressures of day to day duties, I’m talking about one of those jobs where you feel as if your job is on the line with every decision you make, one where you deal with overbearing managers and sniping co-workers?

If things are that bad you may seriously want to take a look at other options, especially if you have a history of heart problems.

According to research from the University of Quebec, a stressful work environment can play a role in increasing the risk of another heart attack.

In fact, in their study, if a person has a heart attack and returns to a stressful job, there is double the risk of a new heart attack, compared to those who returned to a low-stress job. In case you’re wondering, the best jobs encourage creativity and reward performance with positive feedback.
