NEW YORK (AP)  -- A TV cameraman has been hospitalized after he was hit by a car on his way to a news conference.

Bart Dellarmi, a freelancer working for WPIX Channel 11, was on his way to police headquarters in lower Manhattan when he was hit by a car at Chambers and Centre streets, his station said.

He was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center with head and leg injuries.

Police said charges against the driver are pending.

The cameraman was on his way to cover a news conference about an incident in which a high-ranking black police official was ordered out of his car by a white officer.
