Terry Sheridan has covered blizzards and blackouts, politics and plane crashes, not to mention the outrageous and ordinary as a Reporter for 1010 WINS.
But, he is most proud of the work he and the station did on 9/11, and in the weeks after that sad day while at Ground Zero.
Before joining 1010 WINS in June 2001, Terry was Director of Programming and Operations at Shadow Broadcast Services. Prior to that he was an airborne traffic reporter on WCBS-AM, and also a staff announcer/producer at WOR.
Terry got his break at WGCH-AM in Greenwich, Connecticut, before moving to WXPS in Westchester as Morning Show Host.
A self-described "poor Irish kid from Queens", Terry’s a graduate of St. Francis Prep, and of Fordham University, where he received his B.A. in Communications in 1983. At Fordham, he was Program Director of WFUV-FM, and was honored with the Father McGinley Award from the Communications Department.
His work has been recognized and honored by the Associated Press, PRNDI (Public Radio News Directors), The New York Association of Black Journalists, the Garden State Association of Black Journalists, and has contributed to work honored with Edward R. Murrow Awards by the RTNDA.
His reports have been aired on NPR, ABC, CNN Radio, AP Radio, as well as the CBC in Canada.
Terry’s been inducted into the "Inner Circle", a group of City Hall reporters who roast the Mayor each year at a show for charity, and is a member of the New York Press Club.
He can also be heard on WBGO-Jazz 88.
