Text Message Saves Girl from Possible Predator

CLIFTON, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A text message helped save a 12-year-old New Jersey girl from a possible child predator.
The girl was approached by a man in a BMW last week while waiting for the bus in Clifton. "He asked me if I needed a ride," she told Channel 4, "I said 'no, go away.'"
But the man apparently was never taught that 'no means no' and returned a few minutes later.
"The second time he came, he asked me if I was sure I didn't want a ride,” she said. “I said 'no, go away.' Then he said, ‘What’s your name and how old are you’ so I said nothing, literally nothing, and ran into a building."
But before the guy could drive off, the girl got a look at his license plate number and text messaged it to her mom. Mom called police who quickly tracked down and arrested Albert Perez, 30, of Clifton.
She’s my only child, and I’m a single mother,” mom told Channel 4. “She’s my everything, I don’t think I would have survived if something happened to her.”
Perez was charged with two counts of stalking and harassment.
