Timothy Wright's Son to Take Over Brooklyn Church

NEW YORK (AP)  -- The death of Grammy-nominated gospel singer Timothy Wright left his Brooklyn church without a spiritual leader.

On Sunday, his son, David Wright, will be installed as the new pastor of the Grace Tabernacle Christian Center Church of God in Christ.

The 30-year-old minister inherits a church his father led for 20 years -- as the "Godfather of Gospel.''

He built the Crown Heights congregation into a pillar of the community with his booming gospel voice, up-tempo praise songs and mass choir sounds.

Timothy Wright died in April at 61, paralyzed from the neck down after a car crash in Pennsylvania that killed his wife and 14-year-old grandson.

In 1994, Wright's album ``Come Thou Almighty King'' was nominated for a Grammy as best traditional soul gospel album.
