Traffic Alert: Overturned Truck Closes Portion of L.I.E.

NEW YORK (AP/1010 WINS) -- An overturned truck has closed a portion of the eastbound Long Island Expressway in Syosset.

The truck flipped over and caught fire while traveling in the eastbound lanes near South Oyster Bay Road.

The driver was able to escape the burning truck and was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, according to WABC.

The expressway was closed in both directions between exits 43 and 44 for nearly two hours. Eastbound lanes were expected to be closed for the morning commute, according to WABC.
