Two in Custody in Bahamas Shooting of N.J. Cop

NEW JERSEY (AP)  -- A Bergenfield police officer who was shot while on vacation in the Bahamas returns to New Jersey.

John Casper was flown to Teterboro Airport and then taken to Hackensack University Hospital.

Meanwhile, two men were in custody in the Bahamas Monday.

Acting Commissioner Raymond Gibson said the men have been detained as suspects in the shooting. No charges have yet been filed.

Casper was shot during an attempted robbery as he and several relatives walked near the home of former Bahamian Prime Minister Perry Christie.

A member of Christie's security detail commandeered a passing vehicle and took the wounded officer to the hospital
