Woman to Be Sentenced for Child Sex Trafficking
|
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) -- Sentencing was postponed Friday for a 46-year-old upstate New York woman convicted of selling a 12-year-old girl to a man for sex as payment for back rent.
Linda O'Connor of Norwich and her landlord, Dean Sacco of Jersey City, N.J., were both convicted in August by a federal court jury of sex trafficking and producing child pornography.
O'Connor sentencing in U.S. District Court in Binghamton has been rescheduled for Dec. 3.
Sacco's sentencing remained on the court calendar for Tuesday, a court clerk said.
Both planned appeals. They contend that the girl, now 14, was a manipulator who lied to police and caseworkers.
The girl testified that O'Connor and Sacco both took pictures and O'Connor sold her for sex with two strangers. Police did not find pornographic images of her on a camera or locate the strangers.
