Worker Stabbed to Death at Washington Heights Restaurant
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A bouncer was stabbed to death early Tuesday morning after ejecting three men from the Manhattan restaurant where he worked, police said.
Steve Sandberg reports
It was Karaoke night at La Casa Del Mofongo, a 24-hour Latin restaurant on St. Nicholas Avenue in Washington Heights.
The bar was hopping, police said. The bouncer, who hasn't been identified pending family notification, asked the men to leave because they were getting rowdy, police said. The men then got into a scuffle that spilled out onto the street and the bouncer was stabbed several times in the torso.
The victim was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at New York Presbyterian Hospital -- Columbia.
The three men were taken into police custody and were being questioned. They weren't immediately charged with a crime.
The restaurant is known for its Caribbean food and pulsing merengue and dance music.
