Two High School Students Killed in Crash on Long Island

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Suffolk County police are investigating an accident that claimed the lives of two teenagers on Jericho Turnpike in Suffolk County Wednesday morning, police said.

Three Smithtown West High School students were in the car when the accident happened near their high school at around 10 a.m.
Two of the teens died and the third student, identified as Stephen Badke, is in stable condition with a head injury.
Badke was driving the car when it crashed into a minivan. June Aruanno suffered minor injuries, and her 13-year-old son John is in critical condition with multiple injuries, police said.
Jericho Turnpike was closed for hours between Old Willets Path and Meadows Road in both directions, but reopened by early afternoon.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
