Injured Man Crashes Car into Bridgeport Hospital ER
|
BRIDGEPORT, CT (1010 WINS) -- A man speeding to the hospital after being shot in the face crashed into Bridgeport Hospital's emergency room entrance Friday.
Police say no other patients or hospital workers were injured when 21-year-old Darren Swanson's car hit the doorway, shattering windows and damaging the door frame.
Swanson was in fair condition later for treatment of the gunshot, which he said was fired at him by a group of strangers elsewhere in the city.
A police spokesman says officers later charged Swanson with possession of marijuana when they found a bag of the substance in his wrecked car.
A Bridgeport Hospital official says they're in the process of replacing the door and frame, and fixing other damage caused when the vehicle struck the emergency room entrance.
