Christmas Trees Leaving New York, Headed for Troops

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- Hundreds of Christmas trees are being sent from New York to U.S. troops stationed in the Middle East.

More Info: DHL Trees for Troops

Shipper DHL says it's teamed up with a nursery and members of the local community to donate and deliver 500 Christmas trees, holiday decorations and warm messages of support for the troops.

The shipment is being loaded onto a DHL plane at Kennedy airport tomorrow and will lift off on Tuesday evening for Bahrain. From Bahrain, DHL will deliver the goodies to U.S. military camps in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait.

DHL launched its annual Trees for Troops program three years ago.
