NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Several tutoring services to New York City's public school system offered CD players or $100 gift cards for students to attend tutoring sessions.
Richard Condon, special commissioner of investigation of city schools, said his office has found misuse of financial incentives and improper recruitment of students.
The investigation, dating to 2004, focused on two tutoring services, Platform Learning and Newton Learning. Representatives of both firms said in statements that they've cooperated with the probe.
