Agents Seize Cocaine Shipment Bound for NYC

NEW YORK -- Drug agents have seized more than 1,000 pounds of cocaine valued at $42 million that was hidden in a tractor trailer. Police arrested six men on narcotics trafficking charges.

Police from New York and New Jersey and federal agents found the cocaine in hidden compartments in a 42-foot, 18-wheel tractor trailer truck parked next to a warehouse in Hackensack, New Jersey.

Special Narcotics prosecutor Bridget Brennan says it was the largest cocaine seizure this year in the New York area. The shipment, destined for New York City, was in a tractor trailer with Georgia license plates.

It took several hours for agents to remove the cocaine from the underside of the trailer.
