Woman Dies After Being Struck By 'R' Train

NEW YORK -- Police are investigating the death of a woman who was killed by an R train in Brooklyn this morning.

Metropolitan Transit Authority officials say the woman had been standing on the platform at the 53rd Street station with her husband about 10:12 this morning when she was struck by a Manhattan-bound R train.

Authorities didn't release the woman's identity as they try to figure out why the train struck her.

Transit officials say service on the R train between 95th Street and 36th Street in Brooklyn was suspended for just over an hour.
