Car Through L.I. Home is Rude Awakening

NORTH AMITYVILLE, N.Y. (1010 WINS)  -- Rakiya Phillips says she woke up Saturday morning at her Long Island home with a car through her bedroom ceiling and the car's wheels still spinning.

The 27-year-old North Amityville resident tells Newsday that she started smelling the gas and thought the car was going to blow up.

Phillips suffered only scrapes and bruises, but was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Suffolk County police say they are looking for the driver of the car that smashed through Phillips' home on Carrol Street about 5:15 a.m. and then walked away from the crash.

They describe the car as a gray 2004 Nissan sedan.
