Cops: Man with Knife Threatens L.I. Woman in her Home

SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. (AP)  -- Police on Long Island have arrested a 44-year-old man who they say broke into a woman's home, forced her into his car at knifepoint and threatened her.

Police say the 54-year-old woman had an order of protection against the man.

The Bridgehampton man was charged with kidnapping, assault, burglary, unlawful imprisonment, menacing and resisting arrest. He's expected to be arraigned Wednesday in Southampton Town Justice Court.

Police say the man broke into the woman's Watermill home Tuesday morning and forced her to drive with him to a wooded area, where he threatened her, until she pleaded with him to let her go home.

The woman's name was not released. Police say she suffered lacerations but didn't need medical help.
