NEW YORK (AP) -- The New York City Fire Department says a fire in a building along the Brooklyn waterfront erupted in a basement that contained a matzo bakery.
Firefighters are still trying to contain the blaze that began at 4:32 a.m. Monday morning at 799 Kent Ave. in Williamsburg.
The fire is not far from a building that was evacuated a few weeks ago because officials had discovered a matzo bakery in its basement. Officials had determined that grain silos were a danger and could ignite.
The building was illegally converted to apartments.
Fire officials don't know what caused the fire at the building this morning. But they say they are investigating.
