Belt Parkway Reopened after Police Chase, Fatal Crash

NEW YORK (AP)  -- Police say one person was killed and four others were injured in an accident involving a stolen vehicle on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn.

Police said Thursday they came across the accident after losing sight of the stolen vehicle, a 1997 Nissan Infiniti, which they had been following.

The Infiniti and a black Lexus collided around 1:30 a.m. near 65th Street on the parkway, which spans Brooklyn and Queens.

A man in the Lexus was pronounced dead and three passengers -- a man and two women -- were taken to Lutheran Medical Center in stable condition.

One of the two men in the stolen car was taken to Maimonides Medical Center in stable condition. Police said both men were taken into custody.
