Three Arrested in String of Suffolk Burglaries

LONG ISLAND (1010 WINS/AP)  -- Police have arrested three men who they say are responsible for string of burglaries on Long Island.

Police say the men ransacked homes in Sayville and other Suffolk County neighborhoods for jewelry, money, electronics and other valuables. No one was home when the burglaries took place.

Twenty-nine-year-old Salvatore Licata was arrested at his home yesterday. When he realized he was surrounded by police, he climbed out a second floor window and was apprehended on the roof.

Police say 28-year-old Adalberto Cervantes was arrested on February 21 for several burglaries that took place earlier that day.

The third suspect, Iram Pedraza, was apprehended after a brief struggle in a taxi on February 29.

The men were arrested on charges of burglary and criminal possession of stolen property.
