The railroad says the accident at 10 a.m. Thursday involved the 9:35 a.m. from Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn due in Hempstead. It jumped the tracks when it bumped a train alongside it, the 9:34 a.m. from Penn Station to Huntington.

All eastbound service, which was suspended, was restored at 10:56 a.m. The New York City fire department spokesman Chris Villarroel said it was a ``minor low impact collision'' between two LIRR trains.

None of the 300 passengers on the two trains was injured, said railroad spokeswoman Susan McGowan.

Villarroel said passengers were checked at the platform as they got off the train.

The evening rush-hour commute experienced 30 minute delays and service cancellations after two tracks were damaged and closed for repair .
