MEDFORD, N.Y. (AP) -- A man accused of causing a fatal accident when he fled police and slammed into another man's car has been ordered held on $260,000 bail.
John Licausi entered a not guilty plea Friday to reckless endangerment, assault and other charges at his arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip. He was represented by an attorney from Legal Aid, which does not comment on pending cases.
When an officer tried to arrest Licausi Thursday on suspicion of selling stolen property, he took off in his car, running through a red light and striking two vehicles, police said.
The driver of one of those cars Scott Foster, 46, of Manorville, was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. He was a father of three.
The driver of the other car was treated for minor injuries.
