HAMPTON, N.J. (AP) -- A student pilot and instructor were not hurt when the small plane they were in crashed and flipped in a Sussex County field, state police said.
The single-engine Cessna took off from an airport in Andover around 1 p.m. Wednesday, and its engine failed about 30 minutes later.
They then brought the plane in for a landing in an open field in Hampton Township, a few miles north of Interstate 78, authorities said.
The plane's nose dug into the ground, flipping it over, but the student pilot and instructor walked away unharmed. Their names were not immediately disclosed.
