GLEN ROCK, N.J. (NorthJersey.com) -- Police are searching for a man who broke into a Glen Rock home early yesterday and attacked a 17-year-old girl in her bedroom.

The intruder entered the home around 4:30 a.m. through an unlocked rear sliding glass door and made his way to the teen’s second-floor bedroom, said Police Capt. Fred Stahman.
The girl awakened when she felt the man’s hands on her, he said.
“He told her ‘Don’t scream. You don’t want your family to die’.
"When she asked what he wanted, he said ‘I want you,’ ” Stahman said.
The man put a sock in her mouth but she bit his thumb and grabbed his hair and face before he punched her several times in the head, Stahman said.
The struggle ended up on the floor before the man ran down the stairs, through the kitchen, and out the same sliding glass door, Stahman said.
The girl’s father heard the commotion and called 911.
Police said the man, described as 5-foot-10, had liquor on his breath and may have been wearing a white "Quiksilver" T-shirt.
“We have physical evidence and we’re going to find this person,” said Police Chief Steven Cherry. “It would be smart for him to surrender himself to police.”
