NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A Long Island teenager was killed and two people were injured in a head-on car crash on Woodside Avenue in Medford Monday evening.

Nicholas Luongo, 17, was a passenger in a 2003 Honda driven by 20-year-old Christopher Vogel, authorities said.
Vogel's car crossed a double yellow line on Woodside Avenue at around 9:30 p.m. and hit a 2002 Mercedes-Benz, police said.
The crash happened in front of Medford resident Jerry Piciullo's home. The Honda split into pieces and landed on Piciullo's property. He described the scene to 1010 WINS' reporter Mona Rivera. "My neighbor (he) had a mailbox--they hit that and it sent everything flying. He catapulted from there and landed right in front of the pole. Then he hit again (the ground) because he was airplane-like. And then from there he just dragged along and started to fly over the fence."
Luongo was pronounced dead at the scene. Vogel was taken by ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital where he remains in very critical condition.
Police said Vogel's Honda may have been traveling at an excessive speed, but that the crash is still under investigation.
Brett Brown, 46, of East Patchogue, the driver of the Mercedes, did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
Luongo was a recent graduate of Patchogue-Medford High School.
