Boy in Critical Condition after Hit-and-Run in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (1010 WINS)  -- An arrest has been made following a hit-and-run crash that left a 6-year-old Jersey City boy in extremely critical condition, police announced Wednesday.

Steve Sandberg reports

Jabari Cooley was struck Tuesday night and then dragged by a speeding driver on Grant Avenue, witnesses said.

Germyn Mobley, 30, was arrested Wednesday and lives about three blocks from the accident scene, police said.

After fleeing the scene and abandoning the car, at some point Mobley returned to the vehicle and tried to wipe it down to remove evidence, according to police.

So far, Mobley has been charged with evidence tampering. Four others are being questioned in connection with the accident -- including the owner of the car.
