NEW YORK (AP) -- New York City is urging all builders, contractors and property owners to secure construction sites and buildings as a precaution against high winds.
The National Weather Service says showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday afternoon and evening could produce small hail, gusty winds and heavy rain.
The Buildings Department says it will be performing random spot checks around the city. If construction sites are not properly secured, violations or stop work orders could be issued.
