L.I. Doc Arrested after Illegal Fireworks Delivery

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (1010 WINS/AP)  -- A Long Island man has been accused of accepting delivery of about $5,000 worth of unlicensed fireworks from an out-of-state supplier.

Carol D'Auria reports:

Suffolk County police said they received information from a trucking company that it had a scheduled delivery of a large quantity of illegal fireworks to a Stony Brook home.

Christopher Passidomo, a licensed psychiatrist, accepted the shipment of fireworks on Wednesday and was arrested, police said.

Passidomo has been charged with possession of explosives without a license and criminal nuisance. He's been freed on bail and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.

Police said they found additional fireworks at his residence and equipment for making fireworks.

A man who answered the phone at Passidomo's residence declined comment.
