Coney Island's Astroland Facing Permanent Closure

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- After more than four decades, the curtain could be coming down on Coney Island's Astroland.

Steve Sandberg reports:

The park, which has fallen upon hard times recently, could close for good next week unless a new lease is signed, its lawyers said.

The deadline is Sunday, September 7.

If it does close, not all of its rides will go with it.

The Cyclone, the Wonder Wheel and the Parachute Tower will remain because they're New York City landmarks.

Astroland has 75 year-round employees and 275 seasonal workers.
