NYC Launches New 9/11 Health Ad Campaign

NEW YORK (AP)  -- City officials are launching a new ad campaign to try to reach more people who may be sick from exposure to toxic debris from the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg and city health officials say the $5 million campaign will begin next week, and will include advertising in subways as well as print, radio, and television spots.

The campaign will urge members of the public to seek treatment for 9/11-related health problems by contacting the WTC Environmental Health Center or dialing 311.

Bloomberg and other New York officials have long argued that Washington should create a permanent treatment plan to care for first responders as well as area workers, residents, and students who may have been made sick.
