Jazz Musician Offers 'Huge' Reward for Missing Sax

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- A New York City jazz musician is offering a "huge reward" for the return of his saxophone.

Wayne Escoffery left the instrument behind in a cab when he, his wife and their newborn son exited on 50th Street and 7th Avenue on Thursday at about 1:00 p.m.

It's a "super-balanced" action tenor sax from 1951 and is the same model John Coltrane played, Escoffery said. The saxophone is very old looking, isn't shiny and doesn't have a lot of lacquer on it.

Escoffery calls it irreplaceable.

He believes the cab he left it in was a white Lincoln Towncar with a woman driver.

Anyone with information about the horn or its whereabouts, can contact Wayne Escoffery at 917-353-7733 or e-mail him at wayne.escoffery@verizon.net.
