NEW YORK (AP) -- Two men riding bicycles were struck and killed early Wednesday by a sport utility vehicle on a highway on eastern Long Island.
Suffolk County detectives say Kyan Jackson was driving a 1996 Nissan Pathfinder eastbound on Granny Road in Medford shortly after 4 a.m., when her vehicle struck two men who were riding their bikes in the same direction.
One of the bicyclists, 37-year-old Harry Holden of Medford, was pronounced dead at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center. The second man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jackson was alone and was not injured. Her vehicle was impounded for a safety inspection, but police did not immediately issue any summonses.
