Fans: Mets Should Take Along Luck-Bearing Cats

NEW YORK (AP)  -- The Mets should bring along the wild cats of Shea Stadium to their new home, says one fan.

After all, at least one feline brought the team luck -- a black one that pranced in front of the Chicago Cubs' dugout during a 1969 game. The Mets won, and went on to nab the World Series.

When they move to Citi Field after this season's losing streak, the team sure could use some of that feline folly.

Bryan Kortis of Neighborhood Cats, a Manhattan rescue group, says the feral cats are part of Mets lore, occasionally scampering across the field during games. So, he says, ``why not keep them around?''
