TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Attorney General Anne Milgram says state securities investigators are looking into Lehman Brothers and another bank that does business with New Jersey.
Milgram told lawmakers during a joint meeting of the Assembly Law and Public Safety and Regulated Professions Committee on Monday that her department was actively working on the matter but declined to elaborate or to name the bank in question.
The head of the New Jersey Division of Investments said last month that the state was considering a lawsuit after losing more than half of some $180 million it invested with Lehman in June.
Lehman filed for bankruptcy last month, and state officials say they are not sure they were accurately apprised of the firm's financial condition when the investment was made.
