Young Woman Killed in L.I. Drive-By

BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (WINS) -- A 20 year old Suffolk County Community College student has died after being shot in the face in a drive-by shooting in Brentwood, according to Suffolk police.
Witnesses told police that Danielle Calabrese, from Islip Terrace, was standing on the sidewalk with a group of friends near 1755 Stein Drive at around 10:45 pm Friday night when shots were fired from a passing vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene.
Calabrese was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore and pronounced dead a short time later.
Det. Lt. Jack Fitzpatrick of Suffolk's homicide investigation squad said they do not believe Calabrese was the target of the shooting, and are looking into the possibility that someone else in the group was targetted.
