BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) -- A Bridgeport man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for repeatedly running over his friend with a car and leaving him for dead after an argument about money.
Bridgeport Superior Court Judge Robert Devlin told 35-year-old Mark Silver during his sentencing Friday to "be a man for once'' and acknowledge how badly he injured 49-year-old Edward Cox in the September 2007 incident.
A jury convicted Silver of attempted murder and assault. Cox spent months in a coma and is now a quadriplegic.
Authorities say Silver ran over Cox repeatedly with Cox's own car as Cox tried to run away. They say Cox got pinned under a chain-link fence with a broken neck.
Silver, a self-described rap musician, has maintained his innocence.
