Police Search for Serial Purse Snatcher in Brooklyn

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- Hold on to your bags. Police say a serial purse snatcher has attacked at least 11 women in Brooklyn since September.

John Montone reports.

The women, mostly in their 60s and 70s, were allegedly attacked in the Starrett City neighborhood of the borough.

Police say the man struck many of the women in the head before taking their bags. In other cases, he followed the women into elevators, throwing them to the ground before fleeing with their purses, police said.

The man is believed to be 25 to 35-years-old and 5-feet 8-inches tall with a medium build.

Police ask anyone with information to call Crimestoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
