BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Break out your platform shoes and get ready for some Saturday night fever. Disco fever, that is.
Some 7,000 partygoers will fill the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center Saturday for the annual World's Largest Disco.
The fund-raising event is always held the Saturday after Thanksgiving and it's received lots of national attention. The latest praise comes from author Mike Gurriero's travel guide, "Party Across America,'' which lists the nation's 101 top parties, festivals and sporting events. The book will be in bookstores soon.
The World's Largest Disco was first held in 1979 with performances by Gloria Gaynor and The Trammps. The Guinness Book of World Records confirms that the crowd of 13,000 makes it the largest disco event ever.
In its current incarnation, the event has been held since 1994 and has raised about $1 million dollars for charity over the past several years.
