NYPD: 32 Injured after Fire Truck, Bus Collide in Brooklyn

NEW YORK (AP)  -- More than 30 people are injured after a New York City fire truck and a city bus collided on a Brooklyn street.

Fire and police officials say the truck was rushing to the scene of a car fire Tuesday morning when it collided with a bus in the Brownsville neighborhood. Police say both the fire truck and the bus jumped the sidewalk. The windshield on the bus was shattered.

Police say six firefighters, the bus driver, 24 passengers and one pedestrian were taken to area hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries. Fire officials say at least two firefighters were in serious condition after the crash.

Witnesses told reporters the accident sounded like an explosion and said they heard frightened passengers complaining of pain.

The accident is under investigation.
