Gov. Eliot Spitzer resigned in disgrace on March 12 after getting caught in a prostitution scandal that shattered his corruption-fighting, straight-arrow image.

4) Sean Bell Trial
Three NYPD detectives charged in the shooting death of Sean Bell, a man gunned down in a hail of 50 bullets outside a Queens strip club on the eve of his wedding, were acquitted of all charges on April 25.

5) Beijing Olympics 2008
Michael Phelps was the toast of the 2008 Summer Olympics, but several other athletes stole our hearts and broke records in Beijing.
