NEW YORK (AP) -- New York City parents are being urged to fast-forward.
The Department of Education says families should apply in person by March 2 at every kindergarten they're interested in having their child attend next fall.
Assignment offers are sent in mid-March.
Then families have to visit the school that made the offer by April 13 to pre-register.
Children are eligible for kindergarten if they will turn 5 years old by Dec. 31.
