Police Make 2 More Arrests in Queens Robberies

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- Police have arrested two more men in connection with a string of violent robberies in Queens.

On Wednesday, 19-year-olds Luis Navarro and Jemal Mays, were arrested shortly after a Chinese food deliveryman had been robbed at 25-28 Broadway that evening, police said.

Officers Lisaura Mesa and Jose Velez had been shown video footage from one of the five prior robberies and were canvassing the area when they observed two individuals fitting the description of the suspects.

Two other suspects, 18-year-old Edward Edwards and 19-year-old Corey King were arrested Friday and also charged in connection with the alleged robberies.

Video was captured of one robbery on Jan. 16 in which a deliveryman was robbed of cash and a cell phone. Police say the Bellaire Diner deliveryman was also brutally assaulted.

Police say the alleged robberies date back to Jan. 12. In that case a 17-year-old man was punched in the head and had his Sidekick stolen.

In addition, on Jan. 20, three robberies occurred with a half hour of each other, police said. In each incident, the victims were assaulted and robbed of their money and other belongings.
