GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (AP) -- For a while there, it looked like they might be spending their honeymoon between the second and third floors of City Hall.
A couple and a dozen of their friends and relatives packed into an elevator Thursday afternoon after a wedding ceremony at City Hall in Glens Falls, 40 miles north of Albany.
Apparently, they overloaded the elevator, because it came to a halt between the floors and refused to budge.
Fire Chief Raymond Ives says 14 people, including several children, spent a tense ten to 15 minutes in the box before firefighters opened the door with a key and set up a ladder for everyone to climb down.
The 108-year-old building's elevator is known to be finicky, and malfunctions occasionally.
