Cops Warn of Serial Attacker in Bergen County

NEW YORK (1010 WINS)  -- A predator is on the loose in Northern New Jersey, and police are warning women in Bergen County to be careful.

Steve Sandberg reports

Two more women were sexually attacked in broad daylight in Bergen County Tuesday, bringing the number of similar assaults over the past 10 months to 11, authorities said.

A driver in Englewood called police after he observed a man in his 20s attacking a woman near Decatur Avenue and West Forest Avenue at around 4:30 p.m.

Another driver had stopped and apparently was trying to help the woman, according to the witness.

In Leonia, a woman in her 50s was grabbed and pushed to the ground Tuesday morning by a man at the intersection of Glenwood and Crescent Avenues, police said.

Nine similar assaults have occurred in Hackensack and Englewood from June 2008 through January 2009, according to authorities.

Police are urging victims to come forward with information.
