New Jersey Boy Throws a Perfect Game on Opening Day
BAYONNE, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- The Yankees may have floundered in their home debut, but 7th grader Brandon Pilovsky did not.
Steve Sandberg reports
The 12-year-old pitched a perfect game on opening day of the Bayonne Cal Ripken Baseball League, becoming the first player in the league's history to accomplish the feat.
Pilovsky, who plays for the Amadeo & Miller team, notched nine strike outs in the 5 - 0 win.
"I couldn't believe I was able to do it," he said.
He says he hopes to play in the major leagues someday -- ideally for his favorite team the Boston Red Sox.
